Accelerated Intervention Services (AIS)

Supplemental Programs in Language Arts/Literacy:  Grades 6-8
The District provides support for students who are struggling to reach state standards in language arts during their elementary experience and continues to offer supports in the middle school.  These “supports” are offered in addition to the regular language arts instruction provided during the school day.  Most of the school day supports are funded in the local school budget and some supports are funded by resources from the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) programs.  An overview of these supports is provided below.
Intensive Skills Support for Language Arts/Literacy:  Eligible students receive instruction (between two to five days a week) during the school day either individually or in small groups.  Lessons may take place in the students’ classrooms or in the Accelerated Intervention Services (AIS) teacher’s room.
READ 180:
Less Intensive Skills Support:  Eligible students receive instruction for language arts (usually two days a week) during the school day either individually or in small groups.  Lessons may take place in the students’ classrooms or in the Accelerated Intervention Services (AIS) teacher’s room.
Other Support Programming:  Eligible students are also recommended for before school, after school and summer programs that are designed to meet students’ needs and enhance skills and knowledge.  These programs vary from year-to-year, depending on the level of Title I funding and the needs of students.
